IREB® Certified Professional for Requirements Engineering

Foundation Level (CPRE-FL)

The International Requirements Engineering Board (IREB), which is made up of globally recognised experts from the areas of industry, consulting, research and teaching, has developed a curriculum for the field of requirements engineering and created a certificate based thereon, the "Certified Professional for Requirements Engineering".

The Foundation Level training is aimed at all persons who work with requirements in their professional life. It covers basic knowledge of requirements engineering, i.e. eliciting, analysing, specifying, documenting, testing and managing requirements.

The holder of a CPRE-FL Certificate is certified in the following fundamentals:

  • Basics of requirements engineering
  • Scope, context and interfaces
  • Requirement types and their description
  • Design, documentation and management requirements

What are the options available for acquiring the CPRE Foundation Level Certificate?

Self-study

There are no prerequisites for the CPRE Foundation Level certification exam, except for mastering the subject matter defined in the current syllabus. In addition to preparing for the exam, we recommend studying the textbook "Requirements Engineering Fundamentals" (ed. Klaus Pohl and Chris Rupp), which is based on the syllabus.

Participation in a training course followed by a certification exam

In preparation for the certification exam, although attendance of a course run by an IREB® accredited training provider is recommended, it is not a requirement for registration for the CPRE Foundation Level certification exam.  
Licensed training providers are listed on the website of IREB e.V.

45 multiple choice questions  
Duration: 1h 15m

Minimum number of points: 70% of the total score possible

€ 250.00 excl. VAT (€ 300.00 incl. VAT)

Students in their initial training receive a 50% discount on the CPRE-FL examination fee.
